Antimicrobial
Coating Protects
Zebra's Z-Band®
Wristbands |
A
patent-pending antimicrobial
coating eliminates infection
causing bacteria on Zebra's
Z-Band wristbands. And, unlike
laser printers and wristbands,
Zebra direct thermal printers
and Z-Band wristbands produce
durable, long lasting bar codes.
Patient ID wristbands are a
hotbed for infection-causing
bacteria. Now, with Zebra's
antimicrobial coated Z-Band
wristbands, your patients can
wear durable, scannable and
comfortable wristbands that
resist the three leading causes
of infections in U.S. hospitals
today.
Zebra's Z-Band direct thermal
wristbands feature an inorganic
ionic silver coating that kills
microorganisms that come into
contact with it. As the silver
ions are taken into the
microorganisms, they react and
bond to the cellular enzyme.
This inhibits the
microorganisms' enzyme activity
and multiplication, which
eliminates them.
Zebra's antimicrobial coating
has been clinically proven to
prevent the growth and survival
of the following microorganisms
on our wristbands:
-
S. aureus
-
P. aeruginosa
-
E. coli
Available with a
pressure-sensitive pull tab or a
clip closure, Zebra's Z-Band
direct thermal wristbands are
also:
-
Easy to use: within seconds
you can print and secure the
wristband.
-
Highly durable: they're
specially coated to resist
water, soaps, chemicals and
other elements so the
printed bar codes remain
crisp and scannable for up
to 14 days.
Bar coded patient identification
wristbands provide the necessary
foundation for preventing
medical errors by making
accurate patient information
available at the point of care.
With Zebra's antimicrobial
coated wristbands, you can
further extend those powerful
benefits by protecting your
hospitals wristbands from
dangerous, infection-causing
bacteria.

Durable, Scannable and
Comfortable
Wristbands |
Now, with Zebra's
antimicrobial-coated Z-Band
wristbands, your patients can
wear durable, scannable and
comfortable wristbands that
remain free of the three leading
causes of infections in U.S.
hospitals today.
An independent professional
scientific lab tested Zebra's
antimicrobial-coated Z-Band
wristbands and three
competitors' wristbands for
resistance to S. aureus, R
aeruginosa , and E. coll. All
four of the wristbands were
individually inoculated with the
microorganisms and incubated
under high-humidity conditions
for 24 hours. During this
24-hour test period, none of the
three microorganisms were able
to consistently grow or survive
on Zebra's antimicrobial-coated
Z-Band direct thermal
wristbands. Microorganisms were
able to survive and grow on
competitive wristbands. Further
testing of the Z-Band wristbands
also showed:
-
They are scannable after
repeated exposure to water and
common solvents, including
isopropyl alcohol, ethyl rubbing
alcohol, Betadine®, and Purell®.
-
They offer superior tensile
strength.
-
They are unlikely to cause
skin irritation.
Designed to work together to
create a complete bar coded
wristband solution, Zebra's
direct thermal printers and
Z-Band direct thermal wristbands
with antimicrobial coating
-
Produce bar codes that remain
legible and scannable for the
duration of a patient's stay.
-
Significantly reduce errors by
automating access to accurate
Patient information.
-
Satisfy patient safety and
patient privacy standards set by HIPAA and The Joint Commission.
